Purpose/Goal

“AFA advocates for fairness in US agriculture policy and laws, in order to benefit farmers who practice non-exploitative and sustainable farming practices, to benefit animals, to benefit consumers, and to benefit the environment.”

Initiatives/Events

“AFA is lobbying for the “At-Risk Farmer” pilot program which will help struggling livestock farmers exit consolidating animal ag industries and enter lucrative plant-based protein production (or other sustainable and non-exploitative businesses using their land).” Learn more here.

Anonymous for the voiceless (AV)

Purpose/Goal

Grassroots animal rights organization that does street activism to end animal exploitation. “Anonymous for the Voiceless (AV) is a not-for-profit animal rights organisation that specialises in using conversation and standard practice footage to edify the public about animal exploitation. With an abolitionist stance against all forms of animal exploitation, we hold demonstrations all around the world to empower the public to support animal rights, live vegan and speak up for animals.”

Caring Veg Community

Purpose/Goal

“Caring Veg Community (CVC) Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that strives to make veganism fun, friendly and accessible. Our mission is to benefit animals, the environment, and human health by engaging in grassroots efforts to share the benefits of plant-based lifestyles with the community through the means of a transitional approach, inclusive messaging, and effective altruism.”

Initiatives/Events

Virtual events about topics as they relate to veganism (left politics, size acceptance, interconnected oppression, Buddhism, Judiasm), No limit & no ID Community Free Store. Social justice fundraisers (for: frontline protesters who needed shielf replacements, students who needed chromebooks, medical bills for rescued non-human animals). Non-human animal rescue and adoption. Customized presentations about veganism for high school, college, and community groups. Chili on Wheels

Purpose/Goal

“Through services such as meal shares, food demos, clothing drives, and mentorship, our network of partners work in areas all around the country to help make veganism accessible to communities in need. We provide networks of support and build strong empowered communities within the areas that we serve, and work with groups providing food to the community to transition their food offerings to plant-based meals.”

Cleveland Animal Save

Purpose/Goal

“We are the Cleveland chapter of the worldwide Save Movement and we hold vigils outside of slaughterhouses and places of violence and bear witness to the animals going inside.”

Initiatives/Events

“Hosting regular vigils outside of slaughterhouses throughout Northern Ohio. We will film, hold signs, stop trucks and give love and affection to those whose lives have been cut short”. Vigils primarily outside of chicken slaughterhouses. Learn more here.

Direct Action Everywhere (DXE)

Purpose/Goal

“Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is a global grassroots network of animal rights activists. Together, we will achieve revolutionary social and political change for animals in one generation.”

Initiatives/Events

Farm Sanctuary

Purpose/Goal

“Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 to combat the abuses of factory farming, advocate for institutional reforms, and encourage a new awareness and understanding of farm animals and the benefits of cruelty-free, plant-based living.”

Initiatives/Events

Farm Sanctuary fights animal agriculture through rescue, education, and advocacy. Rescue: “Farm Sanctuary has provided a safe haven for thousands of rescued farm animals.” They invite visitors to meet the animals who serve as ambassadors, Education: classroom presentations to high schools, virtual presentations, Sanctuary Tours, Social Justice & Our Food System community learning program. Food Empowerment Project

Purpose/Goal

“Food Empowerment Project seeks to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one’s food choices. We encourage healthy food choices that reflect a more compassionate society by spotlighting the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, and the unavailability of healthy foods in low-income areas.”

Initiatives/Events

They provide grants to vegan activists doing projects benefiting underserved populations. They maintain the Chocolate List (website & app) to help consumers know which chocolate comes from human slavery. “to advance the rights of farm workers by supporting corporate, legislative, and regulatory changes. Currently, we are leading a coalition of organizations to overturn California’s “50-mile” rule that negatively impacts the education of children of farm workers.” Learn more here.

Humane Society of United States (HSUS)

Purpose/Goal

“With your help, we fight the big fights, working to end all forms of animal cruelty and achieve the vision behind our name: A humane society.”

Initiatives/Events

Big Projects include: Ending trophy hunting, ending cosmetic animal testing, ending fur farms, “improving the lives of farm animals”, ending puppy mills. Purpose/Goal

Million Dollar Vegan

Purpose/Goal

“Million Dollar Vegan is a global nonprofit dedicated to educating people about the environmental, ethical, personal, and public health benefits of adopting a plant-based lifestyle.”

“We provide free nutritional guidance and support for people who are new to veganism, and free plant-based meals to essential workers and underserved communities around the world. We operate in over 10 countries and 7 languages, and have an international team working around the clock to inspire more people to choose vegan.” Current campaign: Take Pandemics Off the Manu. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Purpose/Goal

“PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry.”

Vegan Outreach

Purpose/Goal

“Vegan Outreach is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to end violence towards animals. We seek a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities. We focus on reaching the people who are motivated enough to make changes now—of which there are always many in our target audience who just need some additional encouragement. By steadily increasing the number of vegans we’re laying the groundwork to more quickly reach a tipping point. Goal for the first half of 2020 is to sign up 80,000 people while also educating the current generation of college students about the concept of speciesism.”
